Privacy Policy

This policy explains what FindThatSoftware (also written Find That Software, or FTS) collects, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We are an India-first software-decision platform, and we write this to align with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP). If you use the site, this policy applies to you.

What we collect

Information you give us:

• Newsletter: your email address when you subscribe.
• Buying tools: the goals and tool lists you type into features like the stack builder and the Software Savings Audit. We use these to generate your result.
• Vendor applications: if you apply to list a tool, the details you submit (name, work email, company, website, and any phone, LinkedIn, social handle, pricing, or message you add).
• Vendor accounts: if you claim a listing, your work email (we sign you in with a one-time link, no password) and the listings you claim.

Information from payments:

• Payments for our vendor product (FTS Optimize) are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details. We keep the transaction record: the amount, the Stripe reference, and the name and email on the payment.

Information collected automatically:

• Usage and device data through Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager, and Vercel Analytics (pages viewed, approximate location, browser, and similar), and limited server-side event logging.
• When you click a link in an email from us, we record the click so we know which content is useful.

Cookies

We keep cookies to a minimum:

• fts_vendor keeps a signed-in vendor logged in.
• fts_ref remembers a referral code if you arrived through one.
• Analytics cookies set by Google and Vercel, used only in production, to measure traffic.

The public site does not set a cookie on ordinary visitors beyond analytics. You can block cookies in your browser; the core site still works.

How we use your data

• To run the site and generate the results you ask for.
• To send the newsletter and reply to vendor applications.
• To process payments and deliver what a vendor bought.
• To verify that a vendor owns the listing they claim.
• To measure and improve the product, and to prevent abuse.
• To meet legal and accounting obligations.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the processors that run the service, and only as needed:

• Stripe for payments.
• Resend (and an email fallback) to send email.
• Google (Analytics 4, Tag Manager) and Vercel for analytics and hosting.
• Amazon Web Services hosts our database.
• A large-language-model provider processes the goal text you enter into the stack builder to produce a recommendation. We send it the text you type, not your identity.

Some of these providers operate outside India, so your data may be processed abroad under their own safeguards. We may also disclose data where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep personal data only as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected, or as the law requires (for example, payment records for accounting). You can ask us to delete data we no longer need.

Your rights

Under the DPDP Act you can ask us to:

• tell you what data of yours we hold,
• correct or complete it,
• delete it,
• and withdraw a consent you gave us.

Security

We use reputable providers, encrypt data in transit, and store sign-in and payment secrets only as hashes or with the payment processor. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data.

Children

The site is for business use and not directed at anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

We may update this policy as the product changes. We will update the date above, and for material changes we will make the update clear.
