With that cleared, shortlist it if you are a CNC shop, fabricator, buyer or quality inspector in India who receives STEP files from customers and only needs size, volume, weight or a revision check before quoting, not a full CAD seat.
It costs nothing today and needs no account for viewing. Treat distances you pick between points in the viewer as approximate, because they are measured on the display mesh; for a figure you will quote against, rely on the reported volume, area, edge lengths and hole diameters from a STEP file, or confirm in CAD. Test your own native files before relying on it, because SolidWorks and Inventor assemblies, NX and Solid Edge files come through as approximate meshes and CATIA assemblies and Creo files show only a thumbnail, so for those you will still want the sender to export STEP. The honest trade-off versus a free desktop viewer from your CAD vendor is that CADProps works on a phone or a locked-down office PC and adds weight, batch CSV and solid comparison, but the desktop tools keep files on your machine. It is also very new, with a domain registered in September 2026, no registered company named behind it and paid conversion packs not yet on sale, so treat it as a useful utility rather than a system of record.

Audit your spendCADProps is an independent project that the vendor says was started in Singapore in 2025, and its terms name the operator only as CADProps, with no registered company name. It opens CAD files in a web browser so that buyers, estimators and inspection staff can check a part's X, Y and Z dimensions, distances, hole diameters, angles, surface area, solid volume and a weight estimate from a density they choose, without a CAD licence. Files are uploaded to and processed on the vendor's servers in the United States, not in the browser; guest files are deleted about an hour after upload and signed-in files after 90 days without use. The vendor lists more than 55 formats and extensions, but depth varies sharply: STEP, IGES, Parasolid and ACIS files are read as exact geometry where the file contains valid solids or surfaces, SolidWorks parts, Inventor parts and CATIA V5 parts are exact only when the body is read completely, while SolidWorks and Inventor assemblies, Siemens NX, JT and Solid Edge show approximate display meshes, CATIA CATProduct and Creo files show only a saved thumbnail, and DWG or DXF open in a separate 2D drawing viewer. Even on exact formats, distances you pick between points in the viewer are measured on the display mesh and are approximate; area, volume, edge lengths and hole diameters from STEP and IGES solids come from the exact geometry. Other features include STEP to STEP solid difference comparison (closed solids only, up to 100 solids per file, no automatic alignment), batch property export to CSV for STEP files, conversion to STEP, IGES, STL, OBJ, 3MF, glTF and GLB after sign-in, share links with an optional password that expire after 7 or 30 days, and a connector that lets Claude inspect a CAD file. Limits are 95 MiB per file, 10 files per upload, 2,000 bodies per assembly and 120 seconds of processing per preview.
