Claim this listing →Shortlist Figran if you are a PhD student, postdoc or faculty member who needs quick schematic illustrations, graphical abstracts or protocol flowcharts and finds the established scientific illustration tools too costly for occasional use. Start on the free tier, since flowcharts, plots and SVG export cost nothing and the welcome and daily credits cover a few low resolution test images, then use a small Credit Pack before committing to a subscription.
Before paying, check that a PNG at the resolution you can afford meets your journal's figure rules, because we saw no TIFF, EPS, PDF or DPI setting, and check the journal's policy on AI generated figures. The bigger risk is the operator: the domain was registered in October 2026, the terms name no company or governing law, and billing is in US dollars through Waffo Pancake, which Waffo describes as a merchant of record service, so the receipt will likely name Waffo rather than Figran and a GST invoice is not confirmed. Against BioRender the trade-off is a lower entry cost and AI generation against an unproven vendor, editable icon libraries you will not get here, and AI images whose text you cannot edit.

In short
Figran is listed under Design & Creative, reviewed for Indian buyers. All-in it runs about ₹979/mo for a GST-registered business ($10/mo sticker plus about 3.5% card forex). FindThatSoftware rates it best for researchers and students who need schematic illustrations or graphical abstracts occasionally and want to pay per use with Credit Packs; a poor fit for labs that need publication charts beyond bar, line and scatter, such as box plots, error bars or statistical figures.
Registered business, per month
₹979
Figran advertises $10/mo. A GST-registered business in India pays about ₹979 a month (₹11,748/yr) once the roughly 3.5% card forex markup is added, with GST reclaimed as input credit. If you cannot reclaim GST, it is about ₹1,155 a month.
Indicative, not a bill. The exchange rate is a single mid-market reference, not a live feed, and GST-registered businesses may reclaim input credit. Confirm current pricing on the vendor site.

Audit your spendFigran is a browser based studio for researchers and students, run by an operator that does not name itself anywhere on the site; the only contact is a support email on the figran.net domain. You describe a mechanism, workflow or experiment in plain English, or upload a rough sketch or reference image, and it generates a raster scientific illustration through third party image models such as GPT Image 2, Nano Banana and Seedream, which you then revise with follow up text instructions. A separate canvas builds editable flowcharts from templates and bar, line or scatter plots from CSV, TSV or Excel data, and the vendor says these are free and export as SVG for eligible signed in accounts. Paid plans add canvas image layers and editable PowerPoint export, but the vendor is clear that an AI image stays a flat picture inside SVG or PPTX, so its labels cannot be edited as text. Generation runs on a credit system where cost depends on model and resolution, and the vendor says the tool does not validate scientific correctness and that generated image history expires after 30 days unless saved to a project.
