₹664/mo if you can't reclaim GST
Yap advertises $5.75/mo. A GST-registered business in India pays about ₹563 a month (₹6,755/yr) once the roughly 3.5% card forex markup is added, and it reclaims GST as input credit. If you cannot reclaim GST, it is about ₹664 a month with 18% GST on top.

Online dictation, audio and video file to text with subtitle export, browser extensions and the open-source MCP server. No account needed; speech is recognized in the browser or on your computer.
Full app on every device on one account. Starts with 3 free days with no card, then a 10-day trial with a card before the first monthly charge.
Same app as the monthly plan, billed once a year. The yearly saving the vendor shows equals two monthly payments. Same 3 free days and 10-day card trial first.
The website edition is billed in US dollars through Stripe, monthly or yearly, and renews automatically until cancelled; a Mac App Store edition described in the terms is a separate subscription billed by Apple. You get 3 free days with no card after creating a free account (the vendor may limit how many accounts start free days from one network), then a 10-day trial that needs a card and turns into a paid plan unless cancelled; the terms say payments are non-refundable except where law requires, taxes may be added on top, and GST invoicing is not mentioned. A friend invited with your link gets a 30-day trial instead of 10 days if they start within 60 days from the same browser, and you get a credit worth one month when they pay.
Yap bills in USD, so an Indian card charges about 3.5% over the mid-market rate on every payment. This is the real, unavoidable India premium, and unlike GST it is not reclaimable.
18% GST applies, but it is not a flat add-on. A GST-registered business reclaims it as input credit, and foreign B2B is reverse-charged so the vendor bills no GST. Only an unregistered buyer bears the full 18%, and some Indian vendors already include it.
Indicative, not a bill. The exchange rate is a single mid-market reference, not a live feed. Confirm current pricing on the vendor site. Pricing last verified Oct 21, 2026.
