Claim this listing →Shortlist Yap if you write mostly in English, type a lot on a Mac or Windows PC, and do not want your voice sent to a cloud speech service, for example founders handling client data or developers dictating prompts to Claude Code or Cursor. Before paying, use the 3 free days, which need only a free account and no card, to test it with your own accent and microphone and confirm it runs on your machine, because there is no Intel Mac build and the Windows installer triggers a SmartScreen warning; the 10-day trial after that needs a card and converts to a paid plan unless cancelled.
Indian buyers should know the vendor names no Indian language for the app: Windows recognizes 25 European languages, and on the Mac anything outside those 25 falls to an unnamed fallback recognizer, so test Hindi or Tamil in the free days before paying; the free browser tools do cover Indian languages through a smaller Whisper model with lower accuracy. Billing is in US dollars by card through a US company, the terms say payments are non-refundable and taxes may be added, and no GST invoice is mentioned. Against Wispr Flow, Yap costs a little under half as much and keeps audio local, but it is a weeks-old product with no team plans, its phone apps are a sideloaded APK and a TestFlight beta, and the Mac App Store and Google Play editions its terms mention were not findable when we checked.

In short
Yap is listed under Productivity & Knowledge, reviewed for Indian buyers. All-in it runs about ₹563/mo for a GST-registered business ($5.75/mo sticker plus about 3.5% card forex). FindThatSoftware rates it best for english-speaking professionals and founders on Apple Silicon Macs or Windows PCs who want dictation into any app without uploading audio; a poor fit for anyone who needs to dictate in Hindi or another Indian language, since the vendor names none for the app.
Registered business, per month
₹563
Yap advertises $5.75/mo. A GST-registered business in India pays about ₹563 a month (₹6,755/yr) once the roughly 3.5% card forex markup is added, with GST reclaimed as input credit. If you cannot reclaim GST, it is about ₹664 a month.
Indicative, not a bill. The exchange rate is a single mid-market reference, not a live feed, and GST-registered businesses may reclaim input credit. Confirm current pricing on the vendor site.

Audit your spendYap is a dictation app made by O-mega Enterprise Inc., a US company with a Delaware business address. On a computer you hold one key (Fn on a Mac, Ctrl and Win on Windows), speak for up to five minutes, and release, and Yap types cleaned-up, punctuated text into whatever app has the cursor, from Gmail and Slack to ChatGPT, terminals and coding agents; on phones it works as a keyboard you switch on. The vendor says recognition runs on your own device using NVIDIA Parakeet models, so audio is not uploaded, and finished text stays in a local history that is never synced to its servers. One subscription covers the Mac app (Apple Silicon, macOS 13 or later), the Windows app (unsigned installer, with a separate Arm build), an Android app installed from an APK, and an iPhone keyboard that is still in TestFlight; the vendor's terms also describe a Mac App Store edition billed by Apple, which we could not find listed. Around the paid app sit free tools: a browser dictation page, an audio and video to text page that exports SRT and VTT subtitles, Chrome and Firefox extensions, and an open-source MCP server that lets Claude, Cursor or VS Code transcribe local files. The vendor lists 25 European languages for its main speech engine on Windows and on Macs running macOS 14 or later, and names no Indian language; on the Mac other languages fall back to an unnamed local recognizer, and the phone apps publish no language list. The site went live in late September 2026, new users get 3 free days with no card before a 10-day card trial, and offline use is capped at 24 hours after each successful licence check.

Whether Yap issues an India GST invoice is not verified yet. Foreign-billed tools usually don't, in which case a registered business reclaims GST via reverse charge; confirm the vendor's billing before you buy.
